The badjao community has always been present and is currently growing in our province.

Governor Art Yap met with the Badjao leaders in the Dauis area to discuss about how to redevelop their village and include them in the tourism progress of the province. He also wants to equip them with their own livelihood and add activities as attractions.

Aside from making the Badjao village a tourism area, Gov. Yap wants to document their own literature, music, arts and costume to understand fully the Badjao’s history.

The Badjao’s are around 1,200 in population with 122 households and 260 families.

Also in the meeting were Mario Cuham (Tribal Chieftain), cluster leaders, elders and Carmelita Tecson of the OPSWD.
